BCMC Committee

COMMITTEE PURPOSE:

It is in the best interest of the industry overall to provide the best BCMC venue possible annually.

BCMC Committee Roles & Responsibilities

  • Committee work that needs to be brought to the Executive Committee 
    • All BCMC policy change recommendations. 
    • All new BCMC policy recommendations. 
  • Committee work that needs to be brought to the Treasurer 
    • All committee activities that add a new committee task that has not been budgeted for in the current fiscal year. 
  • Additional cost will be reviewed and approved/denied by the Executive Committee 
  • Help bring forward ideas to assist in formulating or changing existing BCMC policy. 
  • Team up with/support staff to implement policy, goals, objectives, theme, seminar topics and speakers, and promotion to potential exhibitors and attendees. 
  • Team up with/support staff to achieve BCMC goals and objectives. 
  • Regularly report on BCMC related activities to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

BCMC Chair Roles & Responsibilities

  • The key responsibilities are as follows: 
    • Talk to staff prior to each meeting to gain a strong working knowledge of the committee agenda 
    • Know what staff work has been done and what the staff plan is for existing tasks. 
    • Be a liaison between staff and the members of the committee. 
  • Help implement BCMC policy, goals and objectives by mentoring and supporting staff. 
  • Provide perspective and help make all BCMC operational policy and objective decisions. 
  • Work with staff to make operating decisions on all exceptions to the rules. 
  • Preside at all meetings of the BCMC Committee. 
  • Report to the Executive Committee, at their monthly teleconferences, and at Board meetings on BCMC activities.

BCMC Exhibits Co-Chair Roles & Responsibilities

  • Help implement BCMC exhibits policies. 
  • Work the BCMC Chair and staff on all exhibits policy issues. 
  • Work with staff to recommend exhibits policy changes. 
  • Review and provide perspective on the exhibit space floor plan as staff works through layout issues. 
  • Preside over BCMC exhibit hall walk through. 
  • Work with staff and the Executive Committee as needed to work through and resolve any Exhibitor issues at the show site.

BCMC Programs Co-Chair Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work with staff to review and recommend Kick-off, Keynote and Economic Forecast speakers. 
  • Work with members, committee members and staff on seminar content and speakers to meet BCMC educational objectives. 
  • Review individual seminar presentation content. 
  • Assist staff with all speaking function issues and help with the decision-making. 
  • Preside over the dry-run seminar session meeting and pre-BCMC seminar session meeting.

BCMC Component Manufacturer Member Roles & Responsibilities

  • Attend all committee meetings and teleconferences. 
  • Contact as many exhibitors and potential exhibitors as possible in the normal course of business activities. 
  • Work with staff on developing a contact list. 
  • Contact potential exhibitors from December through May. 
  • Provide staff feedback. 
  • Call current exhibitors during the year and/or stop by their booth at BCMC. 
  • Thank them for their support of BCMC and the industry work that we can get accomplished due to their participation. 
  • Provide feedback from these conversations to aid in BCMC promotional efforts and to ensure that we provide meaningful value to each exhibitor.

BCMC Supplier Member Roles & Responsibilities

  • Attend all committee meetings and teleconferences. 
  • Contact as many potential attendees as possible in the normal course of sales calls and encourage attendance at BCMC. 
  • Call as many CM's as possible during the year. 
  • Encourage sales staff to promote attendance at BCMC. 
  • Provide feedback from these conversations to aid in BCMC promotional efforts and to ensure that we provide meaningful value to each attendee.

BCMC Staff Roles & Responsibilities

  • Direct and administer the affairs of BCMC. 
  • Subject to the general direction and supervision of the BCMC Chair and Executive Committee. 
  • Perform the duties and responsibilities customarily performed without limitation, as follows: 
    • Attend the BCMC meetings and prepare minutes and other resolutions and reports as are required; 
    • Provide general advice and guidance with respect to the problems, concerns and activities of BCMC; 
    • Promote growth of BCMC by providing marketing information to the committee members and supporting committee member information needs; 
    • Handle all communications from and to exhibitors and attendees and with committee members; 
    • Coordinate the publication of BCMC promotions; 
    • Provide financial management for BCMC and report to the SBCA Treasurer; 
    • Provide BCMC statistics and benchmarking information; 
    • Develop potential exhibitor contact information.
    • Seek assistance from CM members in contacting potential exhibitors.
